FAQs

Are your pre sprays non toxic?

Absolutely! Our pre spray has been certified edible by the FDA.

How long will it take for my carpets to dry?

Depending on your carpet type and thickness carpets generally take 6-8 hours to
completely dry. We also offer speed drying for those who need faster drying times.

How long does the carpet cleaning take?

For a typical three bedroom house i.e. master bedroom, bedroom, office, living
room, dining room hallway and 12 stairs will take anywhere from 1 ½ to 2 hours
depending on the soil level and carpet type.

Will my spots come back?

Spots that could potentially come back are large spills like a full glass of soda. Large
amounts of any “sticky” liquid can sink down into the carpet padding and wick its
way back up over time. We are very good at determining these problem areas and
treat them accordingly so they wont re-appear.

Can we walk on the carpets after they are cleaned?

Its always best not to, however if immediate traffic is needed we can supply you
with protective shoe covers so that your carpets wont attract dirt.

Do you move furniture?

Yes. We move things within reason. Sofas, end tables, chairs, dining room tables
etc… We don’t move pianos, china cabinets, un-stable or broken tables, fish tanks,
sensitive electronics etc…

What can I do to prepare for your services?

Move small items that are easily moved, i.e. toys, magazines, knick knacks etc…

Do you charge more for difficult spots?

No. You hire our service to do a thorough cleaning, not charge you more for the
word “thorough”.

How often should my carpets be cleaned?

The carpet mills will tell you a minimum of 12-18 months to maintain your
warranty. Everyone’s cleaning needs depend on its use. Animals play a significant
roll on how often carpets should be cleaned. The rule of thumb is when your carpets
start to look dirty its time for a cleaning. It can be different for everyone. Typically
once or twice per year.

Can cleaning my carpet too often do any damage?

Not if it’s cleaned properly. When choosing a carpet cleaner you want to be certain
that they have the proper training, equipment and certifications. We are certified by
the IICRC, which has strict guidelines on cleaning standards, ethics and require
yearly continuing education to maintain the certification. Not to mention that we
have been in the business over 15 years and here in Marin County for 12.

Why should I clean my carpet?

Carpet is like a giant filter for your home. Airborne particles, soot, animal dander,
allergens are just a few things that are removed with our cleaning. It creates a
healthier environment. Not to mention the overall look of nice clean carpets.

Will my carpets get dirty fast once I have them cleaned?

No. Our cleaning methods leave no sticky residuals behind.

Can you get rid of pet odor?

Depending on the severity of the pet odor we can. Small areas can be treated and
deodorized effectively. If you have a large problem like entire rooms that have been
contaminated over the course of years, we would need to inspect the areas to see if
its worth while to clean or worse case scenario replace.

Can all stains be removed?

Most all stains can be removed. Hair dye, furniture stain and bleach are some of the
few that aren’t likely to be removed.

I have dark lines where the carpet meets the walls and along my stairs.

Filtration lines are dark lines that appear around walls and underneath doors. They
form when your HVAC system is blowing air into the room. To equalize the pressure
caused by the system air rushes underneath walls and under doors. The carpet in
this area acts as a filter trapping fine particles of dust and soot. This manifests itself
as a dark line. These stains can be improved but often can’t be totally removed. The
best way to treat these stains is to prevent them. Regular vacuuming of these areas
and replacing your HVAC filters will help prevent this.

What can I do to keep my carpets cleaner between professional cleanings?

Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum! Be sure to have a good high quality vacuum. Don’t use
too many carpet spotters. They leave a sticky residual and attract dirt. Try baby
wipes, they work great. As a courtesy we provide you with a carpet spotter that is
appropriate for your carpet type.

I’ve cleaned my carpets myself in the past with a rental, is your method better?

Absolutely! Rental machines over wet your carpets, which can cause damage in the
long term. These machines aren’t strong enough to properly extract the amount of
water and soap they put out. Thus carpets soil prematurely.
